Have you ever looked back at something in your life and wished you had done it differently?

Maybe it was something you said.

A choice you made.

A moment you wish you could go back and change.

I had one of those moments recently while riding my bike.

I found myself thinking about my boys and the things I wished I had done differently as a mother.

And then I noticed something.

I was being really hard on myself.

I was judging the person I was then through the awareness I have today.

But the truth is…

I didn’t know then what I know now.

I was doing the best I could with what I understood at that moment.

As we grow, we gain new awareness. We learn. We change. We see things differently.

But sometimes we forget to offer compassion to the person who was learning before we knew what we know now.

Regret often comes with judgment:

“Why didn’t I see that?”

“Why didn’t I do something differently?”

But what if we asked a different question?

“What was I carrying at that time?”

“What did I know then?”

“Can I offer myself some understanding?”

This doesn’t mean we ignore the things we would choose differently today.

Growth allows us to make new choices.

But growth does not require us to continue punishing ourselves for who we were before we grew.

Sometimes healing begins when we can look back and say:

“I did the best I could with what I knew at the time.”

If you are carrying regret that feels heavy, you may benefit from exploring it more deeply. In a private session, we create space to gently uncover what you are carrying and reconnect with your own inner stability.

You can also begin with my free Come Back to Center toolkit, created to help you reconnect with yourself when life feels overwhelming.

Today, I invite you to notice:

Where am I still holding judgment toward myself?

And what would it feel like to meet that part of me with a little more compassion?

You are still growing.

You are still learning.

And every version of you has helped bring you here.

With love,

Sharon
